October 2025 Traffic Report: Striking Figures in Autumn

Changing road conditions with the end of summer and the arrival of autumn have also been reflected in traffic statistics. The October 2025 Traffic Statistics Bulletin, published by the Traffic Department of the General Directorate of Security, once again reveals the cost of carelessness on the roads.

1. The Grim Picture of October Throughout October, a total of 58,783 traffic accidents were recorded nationwide. Unfortunately, 24,800 of these accidents resulted in death or injury.

  • Loss of Life: We lost 201 citizens at the accident scene in October.

  • Injuries: A total of 34,173 people were injured in accidents.

  • Accident Density: The vast majority of accidents (86%) occurred within residential areas (urban centers).

2. Need for Speed is at the Peak Again When we look at the causes of accidents, driver errors are at the top of the list as always. The distribution of the 26,703 driver faults detected in October tells us this: We are not taking our foot off the gas.

  • Speed Violation (35.3%): The fault of "Failure to adjust vehicle speed to road, weather, and traffic conditions" is the clear leader with 9,432 cases.

  • Right of Way (16.7%): Failure to yield the right of way at intersections ranks second with 4,454 accidents.

  • Following Distance (9%): Rear-end collisions occurred 2,410 times.

3. The Critical Role of Two-Wheeled Vehicles The high rate of motorcycles among the vehicle types involved in fatal and injury-causing accidents in October draws attention. The distribution of the total 47,123 vehicles involved in accidents is as follows:

  • Automobile: 20,520 Units

  • Motorcycle: 10,978 Units

  • Motorized Bicycle (Moped): 4,655 Units

4. What is the Situation in Cities? Traffic congestion in metropolitan cities is reflected in accident numbers. The ranking in October accident statistics is as follows:

  • Istanbul: 3,530 fatal/injury accidents.

  • Ankara: 1,613 fatal/injury accidents.

  • Antalya: 1,313 fatal/injury accidents.

  • Izmir: 1,206 fatal/injury accidents.
