In February 2026, a total of 48,008 road traffic crashes occurred across Turkey. The distribution of these cases is as follows:
110 fatal crashes
16,716 injury crashes
31,182 property damage crashes
As a result of these crashes, unfortunately, 139 citizens lost their lives and 23,200 people were injured.

Ankara stands out in traffic density and crash statistics for the month of February. While the highest number of property damage crashes occurred in Ankara, the highest number of fatalities on a provincial basis was also recorded in Ankara with 10 people.
Within the scope of enforcement activities, a total of 2,509,890 penal actions were applied across the country.
Causes and Types of Crashes
The data indicates that the human factor, particularly driver faults, is dominant in crashes:
Driver Factor: Drivers lead the actors causing crashes with a rate of 88.8%. The impact of pedestrians is at the level of 8.8%.
Primary Fault: Among driver faults in fatal and injury crashes, the largest share belongs to "Failure to adapt vehicle speed to road and weather conditions" with 37.4%.
Crash Type: While the most common crash type is "Side Impact" with 33.8%, 16.4% of cases occurred as pedestrian crashes.
